Timberwind carries only 20 passengers
While Timberwind isn't the smallest Windjammer sailing Maine's Penobscot Bay, she carries fewer passengers. Because of the Timberwind's "Deep Draft" our cozy cabins provide plenty of storage for your belongings, full standing head room, and large opening windows. Our schooner is configured with two triple and seven double cabins made up for your arrival with fresh linens, wool blankets, and two pillows each (you are welcome to bring your own sleeping bag should you wish to sleep on deck). All cabins have 12 volt electric lamps, fresh water and basins, soap, towels and drinking glasses. We have traditional marine toilets, or "heads", conveniently located below decks, with an enclosed hot and cold water shower available on deck. Our enthusiastic crew will make every effort to insure that you feel comfortable and at home during your stay aboard.

maine windjammer sailing vacationSAFETY FIRST - Although the Timberwind is a traditional sailing vessel, utilizing time honored navigational tools and techniques, she also carries modern electronic equipment as well; including VHF radio, depth sounder, radar, GPS, and loran. Inspected annually by the United States Coast Guard, we are proud of our long unbroken record of certification and safe operation.

FOR YOUR APPETITE - Imagine waking up to the aroma of a wood stove fire, freshly brewed coffee, sizzling bacon, and blueberry pancakes rising from the griddle, as you begin your first morning aboard the Timberwind.

Fresh salt air and sunshine stimulate hearty appetites that Dawn is sure to satisfy with traditional New England fare. Some of the highlights include: home made soups and chowders, fresh salads, breads baked from scratch, tender roasts, pie, and strawberry shortcake. Once each cruise, your crew prepares an old-fashioned lobster bake, steaming the succulent creatures beneath mounds of seaweed along with corn on the cob and all the fixings. It is a feast of memorable proportions. With advanced notice, Dawn is more than happy to accommodate those with special dietary concerns.

WHAT TO BRING - The expression "If you don't like Maine weather wait a minute" is true, so pack a warm jacket and sweater as well as shorts and a bathing suit. Rubber-soled deck shoes are a must, as are sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat that won't blow off. Don't forget your rain gear just in case. You might also like to bring binoculars, camera, musical instrument, wildlife guides, needlework, or a notebook. Most people find they can pack all they need in one dufflebag.
